Bachelor in Medical Lab Technology
Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) is a branch of science that deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases using clinical laboratory tests. This involves analysis of the body fluids, including tissues and blood. Medical Laboratory Technologists perform most of their tasks such as preparation of slides human tissues or other specimens, using laboratory equipment.

Medical Laboratory Technologist / Technicians (MLTs), are vital members of the healthcare team who play a central role in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease. Laboratory Scientists appreciate investigative work and problem solving, and are counted on to provide physicians with information critical to the successful diagnosis and treatment of patients. Medical laboratory scientists and technicians are employed by hospitals, clinics, research facilities, universities and in lab-related commercial industry. They can determine the cause of an infection and use sophisticated equipment to analyze blood’s chemical components (like glucose and cholesterol). They know how to use a microscope to identify normal and abnormal blood cells and determine a patient’s blood type. MLTs supply the health care team with a wealth of critical information, both diagnostic and therapeutic.
Course’s Objectives
The Medical Laboratory Technology Program at Lohiya MediTech offers the education and training necessary to become a highly-qualified and successful MLT. The curriculum prepares you to perform clinical laboratory procedures in chemistry, hematology, microbiology and immunohematology. Coursework emphasizes the mathematical and scientific concepts behind specimen collection and laboratory testing, quality assurance, and the reporting, recording, and interpreting of findings involving tissues, blood, and body fluids.
Learning Outcomes. After completing the MLT coirse you will be able to :-
- Sets up, adjusts and maintains medical laboratory equipment
- Analyzes test and experiment results to make sure they meet specifications
- Records test results and prepares reports
- Analyzes body fluids, such as blood and urine, to detect abnormalities
- Operates equipment necessary for laboratory work
- Manipulates patients as necessary for the performance of laboratory procedures
- Evaluates patient, test reactions, medical test results and the working environment
About DMLT Course
This is a two year recognized diploma course conducted at Lohiya MediTech, which is awarded by the Lohiya Paramedical & Technical Association (LPMTA) and is intended to give training to the candidate in clinical laboratory procedures.
The programme includes theory lectures and practical training both in a class situation and in the hospital laboratory. Areas of exposure are Hematology, Immunohaematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Histopathology, Cytology etc.,
English classes are taken during the first few months for those students who come from other language areas. The examinations are conducted by the examiners appointed by the Lohiya Paramedical & Technical Association (LPMTA).
The LPMTA laboratory Technician Diploma along with University Diploma will be conferred after the successful completion of the above examination.

CLINICAL PLACEMENTS ASSISTANCE
Clinical placements are a required element of this program and students will be assigned placements at approved training sites. Additional sites may be considered in consultation with program faculty. There is no guarantee that students will receive their preferred placement. All expenses associated with the completion of clinical placement will be the responsibility of the students.
